The Miller Compost facility is located at 80 Gloria McCluskey Drive, in the Burnside Industrial Park in Dartmouth. This compost facility is currently the largest indoor In-Vessel Wide Bed compost operation in the Miller Compost group of composting sites. This facility is designed to process up to 25,000 metric tonnes per year of Source Separated Organic (SOS) material which diverts this valuable resource from potential land fills.

Approximately half of HRM’s residential “Green bin collection” is processed at this facility along with organics from the commercial sector.

From the incoming “feedstock” a top quality “Class A” Compost as defined by the (Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment) CCME Guidelines is produced and is suitable to be utilized in gardens growing produce for human consumption.

The compost produced at Miller Compost is also utilized as a component in manufactured top soil that Miller Compost also markets to both the homeowner and landscape trade.

The facility at 80 Gloria McCluskey Drive is open to receive materials from commercial haulers and residents of HRM from 8am to 4pm Monday through Friday year round. We are closed on Statutory Holidays.
