Project Description: Miller Paving Limited was the successful contractor of the first design-build contract of a High Performance Double Chip Seal in Ontario, let by Eastern MTO. The double chip seal is applied to a structurally sound pavement to provide increased skid resistance and extend the life of the pavement. The contract mandated a two year warranty on which the client will assess the performance prior to the conclusion of the warranty period. |

Project Description:
Cold In-Place Recycling with CSS-1HP emulsion and 0.5 % cement was utilized on this high volume arterial route which connects Ontario's aggregate resource belt to the GTA. The finished surface was open to traffic for approximately eight weeks without any detrimental effects to the ride or quality of the completed mat.

Project Description: This pavement preservation technique was used as a holding strategy for Woodbine Avenue saving the owner a considerable amount of money in comparison to traditional construction techniques over the life of the pavement. It is estimated that this treatment will provide improved skid resistance, aesthetics, and an impermeable layer to seal the underlying pavement structure.

Project Description: Microsurfacing the travel and passing lanes of the Trans Canada Highway from Riviere Verte to St. Leonard, Approx. 30 km. Due to the presence of wheel ruts in the travel lanes ( average rut depth 15 mm.). First a rut box was used to fill the wheel ruts. Next a scratch course and overlay were placed on both lanes. This project proved to be successful and the owner will implement this process in their maintenance program. |

Project Description: On this project the process consisted of placing a Seal Coat using 3/8 " washed chips and CRS2p emulsion over an existing asphalt surface or previously Seal Coated surface. The Seal Coat was then fogged using a light application of diluted CSS1 emulsion and a light dusting of concrete sand. The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation uses the process exclusively for all their Seal Coats as the use of the fog seal has dramatically reduced plow damage to their Seal Coated Surfaces. |
