Project Name: Uxbridge Heights Plaza Location: 280 Toronto Street S, Uxbridge Owner: Giffels Design-Build Inc. Wall Size: 675 m2 Type of Wall: Gravity, reinforced and freestanding walls Construction Date: August 2008 |
 |
Project Description: In order to maximize the site for a retail development an existing 10 metre high berm had to be scaled back. The were four main factors to be considered during the wall 1 design: 1) the height of the berm, 2) the back slope on top of the wall, 3) the poor native soils, and 4) the natural concave curve of the berm needed to be maintained. The final wall design called for a 6 metre high reinforced wall that stepped down to 1.8 metre high gravity walls at its edges. The second wall at the site was a 1.8 metre high gravity wall that incorporated our double-sided freestanding block as the coping. This wall had a 90 degree outside corner and a fence cored into the top freestanding block. |
