The Halifax Material Recovery Facility (MRF) is a two stream system (fiber and containers) that processes 28,000 tonnes on an annual basis.
The Halifax MRF is operated by Miller Waste Systems on behalf of the Halifax Regional Municipality (HRM). Miller Waste is responsible for all operations including marketing of the end product.
Miller has operated the facility since 1998 and has worked with HRM to implement upgrades to allow the facility to grow from 14,000 tonnes to 28,000 tonnes per annum.
The facility receives and process all residential recyclables (fibre and containers) from the HRM as well as the containers from the IC&I sector.
Hours of operation and information for material drop-off can be found HERE.
