In conjunction with our curbside collection contracts in the Town of Clarington, the City of Kawartha Lakes, the Townships of Brock, Scugog and Uxbridge, Miller Waste Durham now services over 150,000 households or 411,000 residents.

Region of Durham’s battery recycling program has been such a success that the Guinness World Records confirmed on February 2nd, 2013 that the Regional Municipality of Durham is now the official world record holder for the most batteries collected in 24 hours at one location. Since that time, over 125 tonnes of batteries have been collected. All of the recovered batteries are sent to a processing facility in Port Colborne where reusable components including manganese, potassium, steel and zinc are recovered. This program is instrumental in keeping mercury, cadmium and other heavy metals from entering the environment.
