Miller Waste Durham owns and operates two transfer stations within Durham Region. One is located in Pickering and the other is situated on the Whitby and Oshawa border. These two transfer stations combined process hundreds of thousands of tonnes of residential and commercial waste each year.
The residential waste is then shipped to the new Durham York Energy Centre located in Clarington. This waste management facility produces energy from the combustion of garbage creating enough energy to power approximately 10,000 homes. There are two waste-fired combustors at this facility.
