Birchwood Foods Parking Lot

This project was a parking area with loading docks of a large meat processing company. The work consisted of meeting with the General Building Contractor and Owner to compare the structural values in using conventional removal and replacement with full depth reclamation and resurfacing.

Due to the area being a truck loading dock that had very unstable areas, the owners found it cost effective to stabilize the whole area with the full depth reclamation process in lieu of conventional patching and increased the structural value by 32 percent. A geotechnical engineering company retrieved samples and developed the mix design and the project was completed within a week. The owner was pleased that access to the dock area was maintained throughout construction and the work took less time to complete than the conventional method for removal and replacement.
