Our History and Vision
LEVERAGING THE PAST TO BUILD THE FUTURE
The Miller Group’s history dates back to 1917 when it was founded as A.E. Jupp Construction. When its ownership changed in 1946, the name changed to Miller Paving Limited. Since its formation, Miller’s proud reputation has been based on excellence in road building and it contributed to many of the major infrastructure projects during the great road building boom of the mid-20th century and beyond.
105 years later, our success is based on time-proven construction methods and innovative technology, backed by extensive technical and financial resources as a Colas Company. Our thousands of employees build and support urban and rural infrastructure across Canada, throughout the Southeastern United States and in international markets.
At our core we are our people. We succeed because we respect our people and invest in their development, safety and well-being. A TRIBUTE TO LEO
We are guided by the spirit and ethos of leaders like Leo McArthur.
Leo and his business partner John Carrick left promising careers at Imperial Oil, betting what little they had and all they could borrow on a new asphalt business. The gamble paid off and in 1976 Leo and John purchased Miller Paving Limited. Over the next 40 years Leo expanded Miller’s size and reach. His career exemplified hard work, rock solid integrity, and above all a passionate commitment to Miller’s employees who continue to respect and honour his legacy by leveraging the past to build the future.
