CULTURE AND
COMMUNITY

Social and community involvement are essential elements in what it means to be Miller. When we feel a sense of belonging to the communities where we live and work, we perform better as a team. Being active in our communities and making a contribution enables us to make meaningful connections with our neighbours. We leverage our global network to make a positive local impact, building trusted relationships that enrich everyone’s quality of life.

Ride Smart Partnership

Miller is proud to partner with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in sponsoring Ride Smart, a program created by New Hope Community Bikes. The program focuses on making connections in communities throughout Ontario to educate kids on how to safely ride their bikes. The emphasis is on road safety and the importance of physical activity while building strong connections. Through this program, kids gain confidence and practice their skills, which will not only make them better bike riders but also safer drivers in the future. Continuing Miller’s long tradition of focusing on the communities where we live and work, we’re excited to contribute to this fun and equally important program. For more information, visit Ride Smart’s official website.

Tree Planting 2023

In 2021, we pledged to plant 105,000 trees over 105 sites. In 2022, we planted 20,000 trees and are working hard to keep the momentum going! Miller recently held ceremonial tree planting days where we worked alongside community members. To ensure quality and longevity, professional planters assisted us across five sites this year – Batterman Pit, Bauman Pit, Boyington 3 Pit, Darrington Pit and Germet Pit.

Additionally, we recognized the potential to incorporate bees, maintained by professional beekeepers to foster more growth in the plants in these areas. We are committed to environmental stewardship, and we will continue this great work in the coming years to achieve our goal and see our communities flourish with flora and fauna!
