The work consisted of milling and cleanup of approximately 630,000 square yards (525,000 square meters) varying in depth from 1.5 inches (38 MM) to 8.25 inches (210 MM). Total tons of existing asphalt paving to be removed was estimated to be 156,225 tons (141,727 kg).

Work in the scheduled areas began on Friday nights at 10:00 P.M. and was to be completed by noon the next day. Paving crews were required to have the hot mix inlay, along with the traffic markings in place and open to traffic by 5:00 A.M. Monday mornings.

MGI utilized a full fleet of milling machines due to the various widths of cut; a miniplaner, 2 CMI 1050s full lane, 5 Wirtgen half lanes, and a Wirtgen 1200. Cleanup was subcontracted to a specialty contractor and managed by MGI personnel.

The project was completed in 12 weekends with the highest production of 84,195 sq. yards (70,395 sq. meters), without any delays to the paving contractor.
